Dong Energy

Our Waste to Energy project in Northwich, Cheshire for Dong Energy is progressing very well. The IMG_7592reinforced concrete bunker is nearing completion after an 9 week slipform programme for the 18m lift above ground level. The 6m structure beneath ground level was cast in situ along with a 1m thick reinforced concrete slab that was cast in a single 800m3 pour over a 14 hour period. We are also nearing completion of the site remediation works on, where we have removed over 5,000 Tonne of hazardous waste contaminated with hydro carbons and asbestos fibres.

REnescience Northwich is a brand new facility, which will recover resources from waste and generate renewable electricity through treatment with enzymes, mechanical sorting and anaerobic digestion. The plant will treat up to 120,000 tonnes of waste per year using DONG Energy’s patented REnescience technology, which is very efficient at capturing organic materials and can help to increase recycling rates by extracting clean materials such as plastic bottles. REnescience is a safe, reliable technology that does not involve waste incineration. It uses the enzymes, mechanical sorting and anaerobic digestion to produce biogas and generate approximately 5 MW of renewable electricity, as well as clean recyclable materials and other products

CCBC Term Contract 2016 – 2020

Jennings are delighted to have been awarded  the Coastal Term Maintenance Contract for Conwy County IMG_0244Borough Council. The contract was secured after a successful financial / quality submission and will be executed under an NEC 3 Term Contract. The very first Coastal Term Contract for CCBC was also carried out by Jennings from 2009 to 2012 with 1 year extensions ending in 2015 providing the service for a total of 6 years.

 

The Term Contract includes structural repairs, beach management, beach replenishment, concrete and rock coastal defence and emergency response for 73km of coast line from Kinmel Bay to Llanfairfechan.

Kier RAF Valley

Kier Construction have awarded Jennings the groundwork package on their contract for the MOD at Kier RAF ValleyRAF Valley Anglesey.

Over the next 30 weeks, Jennings will divert existing drainage and services in running sand and construct RC foundations for the new OSB building adjacent to runway 2. Well Point dewatering will be installed to lower the ground water which is approximately 1m below ground level.

RAF Valley is a Royal Air Force station on the island of Anglesey, Wales, and which is also used as Anglesey Airport. It provides fast-jet training using the BAE Systems Hawk and provides training for aircrew working with search and rescue.

HRH The Duke of Cambridge,  was assigned to RAF Valley, as a pilot flying the Sea Kingsearch and rescue helicopter. He finished his last shift as a pilot in 10 September 2013

Marina Quay Rhyl

Marina Quay Retail Park DevelopmentNine years after the famous Ocean Beach funfair was demolished, work is finally underway to construct a new ten-acre retail park in Rhyl, North Wales.

The funfair had been at Ocean Beach since 1954 after moving from the adjacent site to make way for Marine Lake. Unfortunately the popularity dropped over the last few years and the site was forced to close in 2007 and then subsequently demolished.

Jennings are now undertaking the Site Preparation package for Barnfield Construction to prepare the site for ground improvement and substructures. The demolition, bulk exactions and imported fill works shall commence in June and phase one of the overall development is due for completion early 2017.

Vibro Compaction Progressing Well at REnescience

renescienceKeller Foundations are achieving excellent progress at REnescience Waste to Energy plant in Northwich. 6500 stone columns will be installed up to a depth of 6m over the next 9 weeks.

The engineering solution is to improve the existing ground bearing pressure to achieve 150kpa for building and tank foundations.

Jennings are also undertaking a remediation strategy that requires approx 30,000m3 of excavation and disposal of 10,000m3 of non-hazardous waste to a licences facility.

The 8,000m3 open cut bunker excavation is now complete and reinforcement is  being installed in the foundation of the 25x25x23m high RC structure.

With use of our state of the art equipment, industry knowledge and vast experience, we are able to complete projects of such scale.
