Ardda Leat, Dolgarrog
RWE, the German energy company, has awarded Jennings a three year contract to re-line the Ardda Leat in Dolgarrog. The Ardda Leat was constructed in 1955 from the Afon Ddu valley to the Afon Port Llwyd valley. It is of trapezoidal section and concrete lined which has deteriorated over the last 60 years. The first section of leat to be re-lined is between the Sulphur Mine and Coedty Reservoir, which brings water from the Afon Ddu to Coedty Reservoir. The work will be carried out during the power station outages in the summer months to ease access to remote areas that are severely affected by the winter weather.

Jennings commenced groundwork on the proposed £36m office building for Conwy County Borough 
Council in late December 2016. The Section 278 off site works are progressing along with preparation for the steel sheet piling in the multi storey car park and basement. Over the next 12 weeks, Jennings will remove 30,000m3 of inert soils and construct a 250m long RC capping beam and upstand wall ready to receive structural steel.
In April, work shall start on the new 200 space car park at Parc Eirias.

Site management and operatives on our Solvay Adhesives project in Wrexham were recently invited to 
attend Annette Tierney’s Theatre At Work at Carden Park Hotel, Cheshire.
The interactive play aims to overcome one of the key challenges in changing behaviour and workplace culture. The safety themes focus on responsibility, rule breaking, intervention and culture.
The play is based on the tragic and true story of a horrific death onboard an oil rig. A man is being hoisted in a harness towards the ‘Mousehole’, a trapdoor in the deck of the rig. His harness slips and instead of hanging vertically, he is dangling horizontally. A radio fails, a crane operator operates blindly, and a man dies. The play starts after the incident has happened and goes back in time to uncover the attitudes and behaviours which contributed to a fatality.
High on impact and engagement, the Mouseole is one of the UK and Ireland’s most frequently performed safety plays.
This event was just one of many organised by Solvay Adhesives and their EPC contractor, Fluor. Throughout the contract, Solvay and Fluor have incentivised the site team to contribute towards health and safety by awarding individuals £30 weekly for good practices followed by a monthly draw for a £50 voucher. There have also been gifts for the entire 200+ workforce for achieving 50,000 and 200,000 incident free hours.

We have been awarded the substructure and upper floors package from BAM Construction on their 
£18m SuRNICC project at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd. Construction of the Sub-Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Centre will commence in December and the unit is expected to open in 2018. Jennings have had a presence at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd for over 8 years where we have constructed car parking and traffic management schemes direct for BCUHB and have had a continuous presence on Laing O’Rourke’s £70m YGC redevelopment which has seen us being involved with multiple sensitivitie projects including the new Accident & Emergency department, Cath Lab, Main Entrance remodelling, head& neck department, overflow car parking and internal drainage improvements throughout the hospital.
The second major contract win is the groundwork package for Bowmer & Kirkland on the new £36m office and multi-storey car park for Conwy County Borough Council in Colwyn Bay North Wales.
