Jennings have secured the groundworks package for the proposed £25million ‘Christ the Word Catholic School’ in Rhyl. The school will combine existing schools, Ysgol Mair RC Primary School and Blessed Edward Jones RC High School and is funded through the 21st Century Schools Programme. Over the 2 year construction programme Jennings will employ apprentices and offer work placement opportunities for local unemployed individuals who are looking for a career in construction. A turf cutting ceremony was held by Rt Rev Peter M Brignall, who had the task of selecting the new name from 120 ideas submitted by children, staff and governors. The new school will cater for 420 full time pupils aged three to 11 and 500 pupils aged 11-16.
